A Bit About Me

Based in South Haven, Michigan, Kayla (Wyszynski) Ridley works as a fine artist specializing in public art projects. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration in 2014. Following her graduation, Kayla received her first major commission; a mural welcoming visitors to the city of South Haven, Michigan.

After completing that commission, Kayla realized how much she enjoyed creating community art outdoors and has since added more murals to her portfolio. In addition, she partners with local non-profits working to beautify South Haven and its surrounding areas as well as bring creative opportunities to her community at large.

Family focused and driven, Kayla’s work centers around relationships and loved ones. She wishes to capture intimate moments of love, curiosity and joy and to share the beauty of those moments in the paintings she creates. Portraiture as her forte, Kayla enjoys illustrating the individuality and personality of her subjects.

In addition to her figurative work, Kayla also creates landscapes inspired by her home and travels. She very much enjoys being outside and has a great wonder and admiration for nature.

Kayla is fluent in an array of traditional media including, but not limited to, graphite, colored pencil, pastel, and acrylic. Although she uses digital programs to assist in her process, Kayla’s true passion lies within traditional media. As Kayla’s media changes, the themes driving her work remain consistent.

Outside the studio, Kayla enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. Her other pastimes include reading, kayaking, and taking long walks with her beagle, Allison. Family oriented, nature inspired, and community driven, Kayla strives to enrich the lives of others and herself through her art.
